HAUPTSTIMME = THE MAIN PART TO BE HEARD
German composer, Arnold Schoenberg, added the term Hauptstimme  in order to indicate specific parts within the full texture of his music to be projected loudest as the main part to be heard. The musical part to be performed with the greatest presence, was marked with the letter “H” followed by a horizontal line which bracketed the passage affected.

In addition to notating the speed range of a piece of music, additional tempo words give composers an effective way to convey the mood of a composition.
Tempo mood words are considered additional tempo qualifiers. Tempo words which describe moods and emotions, help musicians gain insight into how to perform music as the composer intended.
