Memory

Memory

Everything you have learned and will learn, involves the use of many different types of Memory.

Simply put, Memory is the process of storing, retrieving and recalling information.

The brain knows everything that has happened and can recall it upon request.

Once desired information has been entered correctly and retained, then it can be re-created with Comfortable Confidence.”

The R’s of Remembering

Music memorization is a skill much like any other learning process and takes smart planning.

Intentionally going through the below “R‘s” helps program performance success!

  • Registering is ‘taking note’ of what you want to remember.
  • Retaining is storing registered information.
  • Retrieving is recalling retained information.
  • Re-creating is putting the above R’s into action.

The R’s helps you to Realize Real Results!

When you know that you know your music and are ‘programmed for success,’ performing live at auditions and on stage is more joyful.

Remember, music is an expressive art and programming technical information in the style of machine behavior is not the goal. While preparing compositions for performance, having a mental picture of the mood and perhaps a ‘story line’ in mind,  and then assigning these mental images to specific phrases makes larger works much easier to recall.  Give it a try —  it works!
